Packaging

Packaging for the game...

we decided to keep things nice and purty.

two decks, so a holder for that, laser engraving, plexi, and a cardstock sleeve to hold everything in place.

sketches for plexi with sizes etc.

laser beaming in leazer

here are some photos of the plexi and the cards...

-laser engraved "Tebahpla" on the side
-divider seperates two decks of cards
-players provide own paper and pencil

Cards & Stuff

We made the backs for the cards as well as some major changes for game play, namely the magiscule set has been nixed and are represented on a picture set.

tebahpla (alphabet backwards)

the color's are a bit funky (alas cmyk...) but this is on the back of all of our cards, however the colors are light blue (miniscule) and dark green (picture/magiscule)

sketches for instructions and name ideas

also we have game play and full length instructions complete:

-bomp-

karma is swirling. my camera has resurfaced.
what the heck is next?

i'll tell you:
Me & Riley's Game

remember boxers, slanters, stemmers, and all that dodgy garb?
GONE!
above is a pixelated albeit visible prototype for an accordion-fold style set of directions. the game involves one set of dealt cards, another set that determine the card you pick from a third (boxed) set that have pictures! neat. rage on.

I will post a better description of the game play later today, but basically we have swayed away from suits and traditional card games for something
less ordinary and more along the lines of scattagory (sp.), apples to apples and some game with pictures...

dig this:

this color scheme is by no means permanent, but i just really have a thing for peptobismol.
oh. and riley plays with himself. also, that isn't our font. damns. but it's coming along.

we are toying with colors and riley is breaking my streak of using PNW hues.

gametime.

So. riley and i have been paired and have the task of creating a game based on at least 52 cards with the magiscule and miniscule letters. we decided that trying to find four common groups would be a good start and a step towards game development.

I have to figure out how blogspot will allow me to put text with individual photos and not all underneath it, but the photos of our groups go as follows:

Boxers:
these letters have share the common characteristic (or possibility) of having right angles and an overall boxy shape.

Slanters:
these letters all have diagonal lines and tend to not have rounded shapes, but a more angular appearance. reminded me of runes.

Stemmers:
these letters all have long stems either standing along, or attached to a smaller guy, the majority of these are miniscule (lower case) and ascenders (surpassing the x-height) or descenders (going below the baseline)

Rounders:

all of these shapes have rounded or curvy appearance

so.

-we are building on these four groups much as the four suits in a deck of playing cards

-we need to establish a form of hierarchy either within the "suits" or the deck as a whole

-the format of the game as of now will be similar to a fast game of cards like uno where 2-4 players will sit in a circle and take turns playing cards to the center with an emphasis on the hierarchy.

-the goal will be to get rid of all of your cards.

-this game is going to be different from uno or a game with a deck of cards though because each card is different.

-there are not four "3" cards. each card is a different letters.

-we may try to unify them into groups with border or an image on the back side.

i've been drawing skeletons all week.

progress...

muxxing and meddling with the king of carnage: bitmap type-age

i need to:
toy with x-height on magiscule
write more lists
ask amber to post templates online so i don't have to go to school to download them
add classmates to my "blogspot team"
